Meet the Teacher
My name is Jana Taylor, and I'd like to introduce myself!
This is my second year being the upper-grades teacher and principal at ACSM. I grew up in Morristown, TN and taught for 10 years at the Morristown Adventist School. I also taught for the last 4 years at the Duluth Adventist Christian School in Duluth, GA and taught public high school chemistry for 4 years in the Knoxville public school system. I am certified by the North American Division to teach kindergarten through junior academy and also hold a TN state certification to teach high school physical science and chemistry. I have taught ALL grades, K-12.
I am extremely organized, an effective disciplinarian and classroom manager, am committed to excellent communication with parents, and use lots of technology in my classroom. I am a nominee for an award by the North American Division as an outstanding STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) teacher for my work in creating a competitive STEM team where my students at the Duluth Adventist School were 4 time state champions in Georgia STEM competitions. Being missions-minded, I also co-headed the first middle school mission trip at my previous school. I have been involved in directing school hand bell choirs and in teaching in after-school tutoring and home bound programs. My favorite part of teaching is getting to share Jesus.
I am the mother of two adult children. My daughter and son-in-law live in Philadelphia, where my daughter will be starting her 4th year of medical school in the fall. My son will be a 2nd year medical school student in the fall at The Univeristy of Tennessee, Memphis. I am happy to be back home in Tennessee and am eagerly looking forward to a new school year!
